Providing Opportunities To Help Haiti Flourish

Partnering with those in poverty and disaster situations, to help them flourish where they are planted.

About Us

Jay Bowen, from Orange County, CA, was drawn to serve in Haiti during the relief efforts in response to the 2010 earthquake. Jay experienced a love and heartfelt passion for the Haitian people and was compelled to be the “hands and feet of Jesus” to a nation in desperate need. The directions were clear . . . Bring hope, be hope, give hope.

Since those early days and simple beginnings of serving in Haiti, much has been accomplished, including the birth of his nonprofit organization, Plen Fleri.  Jay has established a team on the ground in Haiti, headed up by Pastor Rosinel and many other vital Haitian partners. Hope has been shared through the saving power of Jesus Christ in our 8 thriving Vision Churches. Countless ministry leaders have been raised up. Vision Church Haiti is our “in-country” ministry that we function through. Educational opportunities have changed the lives of many through Vision School, the Vision Adult Sewing School, and funding of college tuition for our primary school teachers.  Plen Fleri has endeavored to bring hope, through self-sufficiency, by creating small and medium sized businesses that partner with Vision Church Haiti.  The average Haitian in the communities that we are working in, earn approx. $3-5/day.  We believe Vision Church Haiti encourages the stability and flourishing of its communities:   spiritually, emotionally, financially, and educationally.

Our Projects

Churches

Vision Church Cabaret

The largest of the 8 Vision Haiti Churches, needs to complete the new church building project. The final phase is erecting a roof and pouring the final slab of concrete for the interior floor.

Financial Need = $25,000

Vision Church Damier

The church is currently operating in a lean-to style shelter which does not give protection and security of church items (i.e. chairs, speakers, microphones, etc). Our goal is to construct a proper structure to hold services in.

Financial Need = $15,000

Vision Church Lascahobas

This newest Vision Church plant (#9) is projected to start up in the next year but has no property to hold services. Culturally, Haitians expect a building if church is to be held. Along with the purchase of a property, there are also survey and notary costs. Vision Church Cabaret has been visiting and evangelizing in the area and the community is primed for a church!

Financial Need = $5,000-$7,000

EDUCATION

Vision School

300 children currently are enrolled in our primary education program.  The students are from homes experiencing extreme poverty.  Most schools in Haiti are not subsidized by the government and children do not attend school unless families pay for all their school needs.  Vision School families are responsible for tuition, notebooks, and a uniform.  Tuition that is collected helps pay for the teacher’ salary, as well as lunches three times per week for the students and teachers.  Plen Fleri subsidizes the larger portion of their tuition, as needed, depending on each student’s circumstances.  The school’s food budget is currently $300/week and it is offered 3 out of the 5 school days. The lunch menu varies depending upon money available.  Most meals consist of beans and rice with a small bite of chicken, or a bread roll with or without peanut butter, and a cup of juice or coffee.

Financial Need for tuition (inc. food) = $13,000 (covers 9-month school year

Vision School

There is an ongoing need for curriculum and school supplies. Basic notebooks, folders, paper, and pens/pencils are used daily and are in small supply.

Financial Need =$2,500 annually

Vision Sewing School

Ongoing repairs for both electric and foot-powered machines are needed and new needles, bobbins, scissors, fabric and thread are in constant demand.

Financial Need = $1,000 annually

BUSINESSES & SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Solar charging stations for cell phones

Vision Church Haiti employs 2 people to oversee the 2 current charging stations in Cabaret.  Beyond the employees’ salary, profit is being made for Vision Church, which helps with ongoing church ministry needs. A solar charging small business requires: a solar panel, a battery inverter, cables for panel to battery, and phone cables. Plen Fleri would like to start 2 new solar charging businesses, in different locations besides Cabaret.

Financial Need = $1800 ($900/station set up)

Plantain Farm

Our recently purchased farm is up and running!  Like any farm, the crop is seasonal, having a busy planting season and harvest season. One worker is needed throughout the year and 4 more are needed during each of the 3 harvests. Profits, after paying workers, will contribute to Vision Church ministry needs. This business is considered medium-sized and has some ongoing maintenance costs. Plen Fleri would like to purchase another plantain farm that is available in the area..

Financial Need = $16,000 (for current farm maintenance and additional farm purchase)

Vision School Teachers

4 teachers are each paid $40 a month during the school year.!

Financial need listed under “Education”

Tailoring Business

Accomplished sewing students make uniforms for our 300 students and are paid $2 per uniform. These sewing students also have “side” jobs at the school, to make an additional profit with their new training as a tailor.

GENERAL PROVISIONARY FUND

This discretionary fund allows the Plen Fleri board to apply funds to any of the above areas of giving with unmet funding or needs that may urgently arise.  For example, but not limited to, the general provisionary fund can also be used to cover vehicle and moto repairs, maintenance, ministry/mission costs of travel, and emergencies.
